Being sick, I haven’t run for a week, which is the longest I’ve gone without in a long time. Probably since I had Covid in August of 2022. Heck, I’ve barely been outside in the last week, owing in part to my cough and also to the bitter cold we’re seeing right now. Luckily, I’m feeling better and planning to get a few shakeout miles in tomorrow morning.
Spending all this time inside makes me feel somnambulant and a little batty. I don’t relish getting up before sunrise, but some outdoor activity just makes me feel like a person again. I’m not sorry I took the week off — it’s important to rest when you’re sick and not push it too hard — but I’m definitely ready to get outside again.
Tomorrow morning is supposed to be warmer than today, even it’ll still be well below freezing. I’ve laid out my tights, some layers and I have a fresh box of hand warmers. Unless I wake up feeling terrible, it’s back at it.
